Rates & Insurance
Rates
You may pay for your counseling sessions by cash, check, Visa, Master Card or Discover Card on the day of your appointment.
The fee for a counseling session is $145 per hour. (A sliding fee scale is available for those experiencing financial hardship).
Phone consultations will be billed at the normal rate and must be scheduled.
Insurance
If you choose to use your medical insurance to pay for all or part of your counseling sessions, there are a few things that Dr. Laura wants you to know:
1. Billing medical insurance means that your counseling will need to be considered "medically necessary." Therefore, in order for your insurance company to pay for your counseling, Dr. Laura will have to give you a mental health diagnosis. This information will go into a computer database at your insurance company, and will remain on your permanant health record.
2. More often than not, insurance will not cover marriage counseling.
3. Your confidentiality may be at risk when using insurance. Several people receive and review your records. Information is often transmitted through the Internet.
4. Additionally, involving insurance may compromise our ability to make decisions about your treatment. Often, people who do not know you will decide whether you may have counseling or not.
Cancellation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified Dr. Laura at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session as booked.
